· An Initiatives by Egyptian Hands
Section image

The initiative is Under the Auspices

Of the "Youth Who Love Egypt" Foundation—a non-profit organization.

Who is the founder of the "Youth Who Love Egypt" Foundation?

Mr. Ahmed Fathy

The Foundation’s activities beyond this initiative:

1- Contributing to environmental protection

2- Revitalizing tourism

(They organized various environmental awareness campaigns across several nature reserves)

3- Educational seminars for public university students

The Goal of Establishing this Organization is

to place Egypt on the international map of geological heritage—a designation overseen by UNESCO. This was achieved through a series of documentaries produced entirely at their own expense under the banner "God's Creation in Egypt," designed to showcase the country's natural reserves; these films were broadcast on various satellite channels throughout the month of Ramadan. Filming began with a series of short films.

"The Migitation of Cigarette Butts" Initiative

Ahmed Fathy,

The ounder of the "Youth Love Egypt" Foundation, announced the launch of World Cleanup Day activities. This follows his selection—for the third consecutive year—to represent the Global Alliance to Reduce Marine Litter, operating under the slogan "Let's Do It." The Alliance organizes World Cleanup Day, an event involving numerous countries and 25 million volunteers worldwide. The "Tackling Cigarette Butts" initiative is part of a series of events aimed at achieving UN global goals and builds upon the "Clean Shores" campaigns, which seek to reduce plastic usage.

The World Cleanup Day encompasses several activities,

Including addressing the issue of cigarette butts. Cigarette filters are made of cellulose acetate—a type of microplastic that does not biodegrade in the environment and takes approximately 500 years to decompose. Consequently, the slogan for this specific initiative is "Tackling Cigarette Butts on the Beach."

The initial activities kicked off in

Alexandria Governorate with a marathon involving around 80 young men and women of various ages, organized in collaboration with "Cycle Egypt." The marathon started at Rushdy Station and concluded in front of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina; the event was documented through photography, and a banner bearing the World Cleanup Day logo was displayed.

The collaboration between

The foundation and the Red Sea and South Sinai Diving Chamber will continue throughout the week, following an agreement to partner on World Cleanup Day activities. The agreement also includes the "Bubbles" team coordinating events in the city of Dahab.

Through this initiative,

The contact was established with 20 diving centers in the Red Sea Governorate; all of them registered via the form for World Cleanup Day activities—previously announced by the foundation on its Facebook page—with approximately 1,050 individuals participating, including more than 50 different groups.

In 2026,

The organization began opening its doors to entities and institutions—in addition to individuals—wishing to join World Cleanup Day activities.

This resulted in the participation of over 22 diving centers, as well as various schools and student groups.

The initiative was spearheaded by the "Bubbles" team, which organized cleanup activities for beaches and coral reefs. Numerous diving centers participated under the unified banner of World Cleanup Day across Dahab, Sharm El-Sheikh, and Marsa Alam.

Does the "Youth Who Love Egypt" (Shabab Bi-Hib Masr) Foundation accept volunteers from among Egyptian youth?

Yes, the Foundation welcomes this.

It recently opened the door for volunteering, attracting around 1,500 volunteers—including individuals, associations, institutions, and student groups. A number of young people have formed a working group scheduled to launch its activities in 6th of October City by conducting a cleanup campaign in their own residential compound.
